Jonas was born in Hamburg, Germany. After finishing school, he studied Chemistry in Kiel. His Bachelor’s and Master’s Thesis were performed with Anne Staubitz in Kiel investigating the integration of boron/nitrogen groups into functional materials. After he had started his PhD in Kiel on switchable materials, he moved to France (Univ. Rennes 1) to pursue a binational PhD with Muriel Hissler and Anne Staubitz (meanwhile in Bremen) on the integration of main group elements in functional materials. After his defense in March 2021, Jonas moved for a postdoctoral stay to Nagoya (Japan) joining the group of Shigehiro Yamaguchi at the ITbM developing novel concepts for NIR dyes used in bioimaging. Since June 2022 Jonas is part of the Beil lab at Stratingh Institute for Chemistry working on organic photoredox catalysis and electrosynthesis.
