Berjan was born in Groningen, The Netherlands, and he obtained his BSc in chemistry at the University of Groningen in 2022. His BSc thesis was under Prof. Dr. Ben L. Feringa on the photoclick reaction of 9,10-phenanthrenequinone with electron-rich alkenes. Moreover, he did a project for the Honours College under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Syuzanna Harutyunyan on the enantioselective synthesis of substituted tetrahydropyridines via nucleophilic dearomatization of pyridines. Recently he became interested in photometallaredox catalysis due to the course on photochemistry and photoredox catalysis and after his MSc thesis he now joined the group as PhD student. In his free time Berjan enjoys reading books, playing games and cooking.
