Lab Culture

Best practices and core values ensure a safe, inclusive lab environment. Diversity enriches us; discrimination won’t be tolerated. Mutual respect fosters an open discussion and resolution of issues. Transparency about mistakes fosters faster learning. Teamwork is vital; selfishness has no place here. High standards are non-negotiable, with strict adherence to protocols and meticulous record-keeping. Everyone must contribute to lab maintenance. Cutting corners affects everyone. All members’ time and research are valued and respected.

Training

As your group leader, I prioritize your career and scientific aspirations. Count on me to support you, troubleshoot together, and make your lab tenure highly productive. For postdocs and research associates, I expect you to reach your potential and secure your funding for independence, contributing to lab management and mentoring. For PhD and master’s students, embrace learning and experimentation. I’ll guide you in experiment design and encourage a positive attitude toward learning from mistakes, ensuring your journey in the lab is enriching and fruitful.

Support

To reach your peak productivity, I want you and will support you to organise the progress of your project as you consider best suited for your work style. Your stay in this lab is short compared to the length of your career, nevertheless, your PhD or your postdoc is going to be key to the success of your career, so make the most of it. I will expect that making progress on your project is your top priority. You have to be self-motivated, because the main beneficiary of your work is you. Throughout your time in the group I will make everything possible to achieving your goals at your pace. Whatever is needed to accelerate your productivity with regards to soft or lab skills we will foster together.
