This month Jonas Hoffmann started as a postdoctoral research fellow in the group. Previously Jonas was working in Nagoya at the prestigious ITbM in the group of Shigehiro Yamaguchi. His research in Groningen is funded by an FSE Research Grant and he will investigate redox modulations with amino acids. Welcome and success Jonas!

First Publication of the Year
Recently, Sebastian teamed up with Julien Vantourout from Lyon (FR) to highlight the work of Prof. Zach Wickens on the electrochemical allylic amination. A technique highly complementary to a seminal publication by the Ritter lab using photocatalysis. These comparison is now available in Trends in Chemistry.
Two new Bachelor Students
Recently, our two students Ana and Jacob started in the group to work on some new avenues in photocatalysis. We wish them a lot of success!
Research Grant from the Faculty
The Faculty of Science and Engineering of the RUG is supporting our research on amino acids functionalization with some seed funding. Stay tuned.
Lorentz Center Workshop on Photochemistry
Sebastian, together with Sonja Pullen (UvAmsterdam) and Line Naesborg (WWU Münster), was selected to organize the Lorentz Workshop. The application “Photocatalysis – challenges and future perspectives” was awarded by the committee and the workshop will take place later in 2022.
Biweekly problem set
To keep updated with current organic synthesis, we are organizing a biweekly seminar on retro and forward synthesis. The seminar will be held in-person and is focussed on master and PhD students. For details check here.
Welcome to our new website
The Beil Lab is located at the University of Groningen in the beautiful Linnaeusborg building. Within the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry our group will develop new avenues in redox transformations.
